DEMOTTE, Harriet Stockdale

Veedersburg, April 3—Word was received this week of the death of Mrs. Harriett Stockdale Demotte, 77, who died Saturday morning at the Methodist Hospital after being in failing health for some time.  Mrs. Demotte was well known in this vicinity and spent her youth in the Scott’s Prairie neighborhood and was a member of the Scott’s Prairie Church. She was the daughter of James F. and Emily Groves Stockdale and for the last several years has made her home near Franklin, Ind.  She is survived by her husband, Frank and one brother, Mahlon Stockdale of Marshall; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Wilson of Indianapolis and Mrs. Sara Ford of Louisville, Ky. Several nephews and nieces in the Veedersburg and Waynetown vicinities also survive.
  Funeral services were held Monday at Needham, Ind. at the Christian Church with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery nearby. Those attending the funeral from here were Guy Stockdale and daughter, Verna Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stockdale of Waynetown, Mr. Arthur Stockdale of Danville, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stockdale and daughter, Lois, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stockdale and daughter, Mrs. P. Willis, Mrs. William Coats, Mr. Rex Stockdale of Veedersburg and Mrs. John Thomas of Kingman. -S
